I think I may have shared my obsession with Halloween once or twice with you all and tonight is the night! This year I am switching it up in the costume department.
I have a few looks that are my go to but I have never been a witch. So I picked up a little black dress and a great hat to go with it. I left the broom at home but I made sure to add some fabulous jewelry.
This year we are passing out candy and watching Stranger Things so it will be a low key evening because I’ve already done a lot of celebrating over the past month. So much so that I’ve given myself a nasty cold!
Last year we had two parties to attend during the season. One was actually a birthday party that was Gatsby themed and it allowed me to pull out one of my standby costumes: a 1920s flapper dress that is to die for. Since my husband dressed up in his 1920s best we dubbed ourselves Mr. and Mrs. F. Scott Fitzgerald for the evening.
Then a few days later in Salem I dressed as one of my idols, Wednesday Addams. All I needed was a black pencil skirt, a shirt with a Peter Pan collar, some black lipstick and my coffin purse.
My favorite flapper dress also made an appearance at a performance of Queen of the Night in NYC a few years ago. After all, I believe that you should wear what you feel looks best on you and I think I look good in a sparkly 1920s flapper dress, dancing the night away!
Do you have a costume that you use as your go-to for parties and other events?
