Dry January has come to a close but for those of us with a baby-on-board, we have a while to go before we can indulge in an adult beverage. If you’re like me and appreciate a delicious cocktail during date night, it can be hard. But more and more restaurants have started crafting mocktails for those who are pregnant or who may be spending the night as the designated driver. Keep reading for 5 New England restaurants with great mocktails for Valentine’s Day.
La Gallina
MarketStreet Lynnfield, MA
One of my favorite places to hang out is at MarketStreet Lynnfield, and this upscale Mediterranean eatery and bar is right up my alley. Whether you prefer small plates to share with your partner, or a full meal, La Gallina has you covered. Pair their delicious food with one of their Zero % Cocktails like the Blackberry Burlesque, the Passion Fruit Smash or The Apple Orchard, and you’ll leave feeling satisfied.
Alchemy
MarketStreet Lynnfield, MA
We used to visit Alchemy at their Gloucester location, which closed in 2017. So we were thrilled to find out that they had reopened even closer to us! Alchemy has an extensive wine and beer list, as well as cocktails and three delicious mocktails. And with meals that range from specialty sushi rolls to the Alchemy Burger, there is something for everyone at Alchemy.
Diego’s
Bowen’s Wharf Newport, RI
During our most recent trip to Newport, RI, we were able to get in two date nights thanks to my mom, one of them at Diego’s which had been suggested to me by a friend from college. Here you can pretty much get any cocktail under the sun served up with delicious and unique Mexican food (I had the #11 Rangoons which were made of butternut squash, shishito pepper, and spice shrimp in a cilantro Thai chili sauce). But they also have an impressive collection of mocktails on the menu. I enjoyed the Wingman (pictured) as well as the aptly named Is there Coconut in This? and both had me convinced I was going to get tipsy.
The Thirsty Moose
Several Locations in NH
When we visited Manchester, NH to see “Disney on Ice” in early January we hit up The Thirsty Moose because I had heard they had a great mac’n’cheese (Arielle’s current favorite food) and a good beer list for Alex. What I didn’t expect was the amazing mocktail margarita on the menu. It went very well with my meal (also mac’n’cheese). This place is also kid-friendly if you need to bring the whole family on date night.
Citrus & Salt
Boston, MA
These pictures are very old – just take a look at Baby Arielle! But I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Citrus & Salt for several reasons. The Mexican food is delicious, the restaurant is Instagram-worthy with all of its pink and green decor, and their Agua Frescas like the Fruity Pebble Iced Tea and the Strawberry Piña Colada, will make any pregnant woman feel like she’s laying on a warm beach beneath a cabana. They also have Dole Whip for dessert so if you’re a Disney Freak, like me, or you just love delicious pineapple coconut goodness, you’re going to want to order one.
I’m always looking for suggestions when it comes to great mocktails so if you have suggestions, please DM me!
