It’s that time of year … rich greens are slowly replaced by bright reds, mustard yellows and vibrant orange. And then in the blink of an eye, the trees will be bare and the chill of fall really sets in.
But before it’s all over, you have time for one more road trip. Here are a few of the best fall foliage spots in New England where leaf-peeping is in its prime!
Keene, NH
I’ll soon be sharing my travel guide for this New Hampshire college town. With it’s classic New England Main Street, ivy covered brick buildings and eclectic collection of boutiques and restaurants, this is a great stop for a foliage. Since it is a two and a half hour drive from Boston, you might want to either leave early or find an Airbnb to stay the night.
Stowe, VT
I fell in love with Stowe during our August visit to the Trapp Family Lodge. While the downtown is small, the scenery from the main street is breathtaking. You don’t have to travel far in the town for a beautiful view. Make a trip of it by staying at the lodge which is just seven or eight minutes from the center of town.
Woodstock, VT
When you visit Woodstock you must venture beyond the downtown. It’s the tree-lined streets full of old, beautiful homes that are just so picture-perfect.
Concord, MA
Only 20 minutes from Boston, Concord is ripe with history and scenery. Take a nature walk through Minuteman National Park where you’ll see plenty of fall color, then enjoy lunch at Main Streets Market & Cafe before checking out one of the many museums Concord has to offer. If you’re from out of town, complete your trip with a stay at The Colonial Inn.
