We have a very small yard and virtually no backyard. And we like it that way. It’s easy to keep up and we live right near a playground and park so Arielle is not hurting for play space. But sometimes it is nice to do something a little special, a little out of the ordinary. So the other day I surprised Arielle with a new place to play. Here is how we created a beautiful, boho teepee hideaway for Arielle in our tiny backyard.
Recently Alex cleaned up this corner of our backyard and opened up the fence next to the house so plenty of natural light can now shine in. When I saw this space go from brown and full of weeds to green and gorgeous, I just knew I had to do something with it.
There are so many options online for beautiful tents, but I found this teepee on Amazon. Though it does have a base so you can sit comfortably inside, I added a little color with a blush tufted chenille blanket.
I wrapped a bunch of silk peonies around the top of the tent to complement the matching rose garland streaming down the sides. This small touch made the teepee look so feminine and whimsical. I picture her spending hours playing princesses or superheroes or whatever she wants to pretend in this tent.
How cute does Arielle look in this adorable peach and white striped romper? The one she is wearing is actually from Nordstrom and is no longer available, but I found similar options here and here. Our hats were actually worn by my sister and me when we were little, but you can find plenty of similar hats like this one.
I found my dress on Amazon for a steal, less than $35 and it comes in a bunch of different colors. I actually wore it to the opening of the new wing of the Peabody Essex Museum when I was just a few months postpartum and it is so comfortable!
Arielle loves to read, so I had to bring out a few books for us to enjoy. And it was probably one of the most beautiful spots on the property to crack open a book. Lately, her favorites have focused on beautiful locations and we love the series from Ashley Evanson like Rome: A Book of Days, Los Angeles: A Book of Time, New York: A Book of Colors, London: A Book of Opposites, and our favorite, Paris: A Book of Shapes.
I am so looking forward to more lazy afternoons in this beautiful boho hideaway with Arielle.
