As a mom of two young adventurers – a spirited five-year-old and an energetic 15-month-old – finding a hotel that caters to both adults and little ones can be a challenge. Recently, we had the pleasure of staying at the Chautauqua Harbor Hotel in Celoron, NY, and it turned out to be a haven for families seeking comfort, convenience, and a touch of lakeside charm.
Rooms That Feel Like Home
From the moment we stepped into our room, we were greeted by a sense of spaciousness and tranquility. The comfortable beds and plush linens were a welcome sight after a day of exploring, while the spa-like bathrooms, complete with luxurious vanities, provided a touch of pampering for mom.
The balcony, overlooking the serene Chautauqua Lake, was the perfect spot to unwind with a cup of coffee while the kids napped.
And with ample outlets for charging all our devices, we never had to worry about running out of battery.
Thoughtful Touches & Delicious Dining
The hotel’s attention to detail truly sets it apart. Each morning, we were greeted by the delightful aroma of coffee and hot cocoa, conveniently located near the elevators on each floor. And for those days when we didn’t feel like venturing out, the on-site restaurant, The Lakehouse Tap & Grille, served up delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner options that even our picky eaters devoured.
Family-Friendly Amenities
The Chautauqua Harbor Hotel offers a variety of amenities to keep the whole family entertained. The indoor and outdoor heated pools were a hit with both kids, providing hours of splashing and laughter.
And the Carousel Bar, a unique bar shaped like a carousel, paying homage to the former Celeron Amusement Park, was a charming spot for parents to relax with a cocktail while the kids enjoyed the adjacent playground dedicated to hometown hero, Lucille Ball.
Arielle particularly loved the little putting green in the middle of the grounds. She treated it like her own personal mini golf course with kid-sized clubs and balls available in the hotel lobby.
Exploring Beyond the Hotel
The hotel’s prime location makes it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area. We enjoyed a short drive to Jamestown, NY, where we visited the fascinating Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Museum and the hilarious National Comedy Center (they also have a room dedicated to the museum at the hotel where you can find out all about it). We also spent a delightful afternoon strolling through the picturesque grounds of the Chautauqua Institution.
