Happy Easter and Happy Passover!
I remember last Easter, the first holiday we celebrated during the pandemic, being frightened but still thinking, “this can’t last long.” And yet, here we are, celebrating a second Easter Sunday in our little bubble.
This is also Arielle’s second Easter meaning that she’s never spent an Easter away from home. Growing up, one of my favorite parts of the holiday (beyond decorating Easter eggs, the Easter egg hunt and discovering what the Easter Bunny had given me in my Easter Basket) was going to Nunny’s house or my aunt and uncle’s.
I loved getting dressed up and sitting down to a meal with people that I didn’t get to spend nearly enough time with during the rest of the year. We’d share laughs and stories about what we had been up to, how we were doing in school or at work. It was a comforting ritual with comfort food included.
As the vaccine rolls out and more of our family and friends get vaccinated (including me), I’m looking forward to holidays away from home again. And I’m even more excited to watch Arielle get to enjoy those afternoons with our nearest and dearest soon.
But for now, we are very happy to enjoy our Easter dinner at home with our little Easter Bunny.
Happy Easter and Chag Pesach Sameach (Happy Passover) from our family to yours.
