Last year I shared a few fun facts about me to re-introduce myself to everyone. Since this is a new year, I’m sharing a few more tidbits of who I am and where I am planning to go with this space! Hi, I’m Kate.
I Come by my Love of Travel Honestly
As far as I know, it all started with my great-grandmother. While she loved to travel, she didn’t have the opportunity to do that much of it until my Nunny decided they were going to go to Europe in the 50s. My Nana also loved traveling. She and my mom traveled all over the world in the 70s and 80s. Some of their favorite trips include China, Egypt and Paris. Both my sister and I caught the travel bug when we were little. Luckily I married someone who loves to take trips and though we are staying close to home during Covid, we’re really looking forward to showing Arielle the world. I’ll be sharing more about my family’s travel history soon.
I Opened my first Business when I was 6
My sister and I started a lemonade stand that we operated when my mom had her weekly yard sales. I was 6 and my sister was 3 and the three of us were saving up for our trip to Disney World that I had asked for for my seventh birthday. Cups of highly diluted Country Time Lemonade cost customers 5 cents. Needless to say my mom earned the most money of all of us. But we did pretty well with that little lemonade stand and it gave me my frist taste of entrepreneurship.
I am Obsessed with Audrey Hepburn
You may think that this as basic of me, but what basic girl dresses up like Holly Golightly and gets up at 6 am to get to Tiffany & Co. on Fifth Avenue to recreate that iconic image? Well, maybe more people than I think would do this, but then I got to go to the Blue Box Cafe, in my LBD, pearls and tiara, to actually eat a croissant inside Tiffany’s! That’s dedication for you. Also, if you have any interest in reading about how the character of Holly changed the depiction of women in television and movies, check out Sam Wasson’s book, Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and the Dawn of the Woman.
This year I’m Focused on Creating a Community
I want this, as well as my social media, to be a space where people can speak with me, not just me speaking to my followers. In other words, I want to create a community of those who love to travel on a budget while looking amazing and game for some extraordinary experiences. You can read more about why I started FK&Co. and let me know what you want to see here!
But enough about me, what about you? I want to know about you! DM me and tell me about yourself and what you love to do!
