It’s only been two months since our last update on Miss Arielle Marie but I can’t get over how much has changed! I’ve been sharing updates on her new skills every few months (check out “Life with an 18-Month-Old,” “Life with a One-Year-Old” and “Life with a 16-Month-Old”) and it’s just so mind-blowing how she is growing up so fast. Here are just a few magical developments that we’re enjoying as we learn to navigate life with a 22-month old.
She is Still Talking Up a Storm …
… And I still love it! With the last update, I shared that she is speaking in short sentences. It started with “Bye-bye, Dada,” and then, “I dunno,” and then, “I know.” Now we’ve officially hit the mimicking phase. I cannot even tell you how many words she has picked up in the past two months because you’ll be talking with her and suddenly she’ll repeat a word or two right back to you. Then she’ll throw them out randomly here and there. It’s fascinating to hear her vocabulary expand by leaps and bounds.
She Loves to Dance …
… And it’s giving me a great workout! We try to be very careful about what we watch around her because she is at that mimicking stage, but one of her favorite films is Netflix’s EuroVision Song Content: The Story of Fire Saga. She isn’t into the actual story, but loves the music. Every time they perform, she drops whatever she is doing and starts stomping her little feet and shaking her head. Then she’ll reach up to me and that means, “Let’s dance, Mama!” So of course I pick her up and we’ll dance and dance and dance. She also claps at the end of their songs and if we don’t as well, she’ll stare us down until we join in – proving even further that she has become a little dictator.
And those curls! I can’t even handle her little curls when they bounce to the music. It just warms my heart.
She is Singing too …
…. And it’s the sweetest sound I’ve ever heard. As we dance she’ll start humming softly, but by the end of the song she is full on singing in her own little language and it is just so cute. I truly think she is going to be a performer – but I’m not pushing it!
She blows kisses likes nobody’s business …
… And seriously, I don’t think there is a sweeter child in the world. I know, I know, I mentioned this last time, but I cannot even handle how my heart explodes every time she puts her hand up to her mouth and goes, “MWAH!” and throws her hand out. Even better, she gives me a kiss on the lips at least once a day. I never, ever, want to forget these moments.
It has been an amazing 22 months and as her development is speeding up I can only be grateful that I can witness it.
