Though I know that 2020 was actually quite a banner year for me personally with starting my own freelance writing business, Arielle turning 1, and launching a podcast, there is still so much I would have loved to have done that I just couldn’t. Whether it was because we weren’t able to due to Covid, or I just didn’t have the time because I was busy with the stuff I mentioned above (as well as keeping a rather busy toddler alive!), it still made me feel like 2020 was a bit of a bust. And even with the vaccine rolling out, I know that 2021 is not going to be a “normal year.” But I’m still making plans because I firmly believe that if you can’t dream it, you can do it. Here are my goals for 2021.
Take A Vacation
I am not talking about a huge tropical getaway or an extended European tour. I would just like to rent a house on Cape Cod for a weekend. Or maybe visit with my uncle who has a home in New Hampshire with a gorgeous view of Mt. Monadnock. I just know that it would be nice to have a change of scenery for a few days with the family.
Make Yoga/Fitness a Daily (or Almost Daily) Part of My Life
Earlier this month I committed myself to participate in Adriene Mishler’s 30-Day Yoga Challenge, Breath, via Youtube. To give myself some cardio, I begin each session with a Tone It Up workout. Originally I was doing it to add more physical activity to my day. However, I’ve really come to enjoy these sessions of cardio and calmness, and even rely on them to help with my anxiety. I look forward to them. And I’ll be continuing my yoga and fitness journey with Adriene and the Tone it Up gals long after my 30 days are up.
Make a Dent in my Reading List
I love to read. But I don’t remember the last time I actually read a book. And I have this stack on my bedside table, each one just waiting to be cracked open. I figure even if I just take 15 minutes a day, either right when I get up or before I go to bed, I can at least feel like I am expanding my knowledge beyond the quick online reads.
Honestly, I have a lot more goals for this upcoming year. But as I’ve said before, it’s important for us to all be kind to ourselves after such a tough year. For now, I’m starting with these goals (well, I will save the vacation for warmer times), and we’ll see how it goes.
