We had a delightful stay at the Holiday Inn Boston – Cambridge Area! Its location, convenient amenities, and family-friendly atmosphere made it a perfect base for exploring Boston and surrounding areas. Keep reading for just some of the highlights of our little staycation.
Family-Friendly Activities
The pool with its sports deck, large screen for in-pool movies, and rock climbing wall provided endless entertainment for our children. They also have school vacation week surprises like hot cocoa and crafts in the lobby. Arielle loved making a cloud from a paper plate, cotton balls and crepe paper (so creative) while I may have filled up my mug of hot cocoa a few times.
Comfort and Convenience
The comfortable rooms with refrigerators and spa-like bathrooms were a welcome retreat after a day of exploring. Having a crib already in the room for Aurora saved us time and hassle. Late checkout and a view of the Boston skyline were a bonus.
Great Location
Convenient access to the Orange and Green lines, proximity to Assembly Row, Union Square, and easy access to Boston made getting around and finding activities simple. While we are somewhat local to the area, we still were able to visit destinations we haven’t really had the chance to explore coming from home. Even getting the opportunity to visit Union Square Donuts felt like a luxury!
Dining Options
The in-house restaurant DRAFT offered convenient dining during the evening and also for breakfast where they had a great buffet for $15 per person. It’s just so nice when you don’t have leave your hotel too early to grab a bite, especially when you have little ones along for the ride.
Possibly the culinary highlight of the weekend was at The Independent in Union Square. They have nightly specials, like $1 oysters on Mondays, which is when Alex and I both tried our very first oyster and we ended up ordering more!
Nearby Attractions
The Lego Discovery Center Boston provided a fun outing for the whole family. By the way, you can actually book a special Lego Package through the Holiday Inn Boston – Cambridge Area which includes up to four tickets to the Discovery Center, two LEGO mini-build kits, breakfast, and free parking. The hotel even provides a shuttle to transport guests over to the Discovery Center making it a no-brainer.
I certainly enjoyed shopping at the rest of Assembly Row at some of my favorite places like Saks Off Fifth, Sephora, Bobbles & Lace, and J.Crew Factory. As I already mentioned, it’s also so close to Boston and Charlestown that within 20 minutes you can be at the Museum of Science, The USS Constitution Museum, Charles Street, Newbury Street, even check out the shops at the Prudential Center. If you’re catching a game or a concert at Fenway, you can step onto the Greenline and be at Kenmore Square in plenty of time for the first pitch.
The Holiday Inn Boston – Cambridge Area offers a great value for families seeking a comfortable and convenient base to explore Boston and surrounding areas. And the staff is incredibly kind and accommodating, making traveling with little ones as easy as possible!
