A few weeks ago on a beautiful Sunday we headed to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Along the way we stopped in Newbury at Colby Farm. It was prime time for sunflowers and they have the best field in the area.
Arielle loved the bright yellows and greens. She kept reaching out for the large blossoms as well as the bees that buzzed around them. And the stalks were so tall! I felt like I was living in the world dreamed up by John Lennon in ” Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.”

And she’s gone.
After we wandered around the field we checked out the farmstand where I bought the cutest mini whoopie pies with frosting sunflowers on the top. We ate them so quickly that I forgot to take a picture! They also had some delicious looking peaches and other baked goods. For $10 to park, it was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.
We can’t wait to visit next year when Arielle will be old enough to tottle through the field on her own!
