I’ve already shared how to stay healthy when traveling, cute Thanksgiving outfit ideas and what to pack for your holiday away. Now I’m turning my focus to some basic Thanksgiving travel tips that will help you get to where you want to be and then back home safe and sound!
Plan Ahead
It’s never too early to start planning for your next trip – whether it’s for the holidays or just for adventure. Make sure you check out discount hotel and travel sites for deals and sign up for notifications. I love the Travel Channel for all their tips to nailing the best deals on flights and rooms.
Pack Light
Not only is it expensive to check a bag, but it’s also just much easier when you focus on bringing the essentials. If you really need something and it’s bulky or heavy like diapers or presents, consider sending them along ahead of time.
Be Flexible
Weather delays, traffic jams, now Covid restrictions all add complications to travel plans. While we all want to get where we are going and have an amazing experience, part of that experience is to enjoy the ride. Bring books, bring snacks, break out the tunes. Most importantly, be kind to your fellow humans, that’s what the holidays are about after all.
Pick your Travel Days Carefully
You also should be flexible about what days you travel. We are coming up on the busiest time of the year. In fact, the day before Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year, closely followed by the Sunday after the when travelers make the journey home. So try to avoid those days if possible.
