When I was a really little girl, we used to always go to homecoming in Newburyport which coincided with my birthday. I’d watch the fireworks from the boardwalk, thinking that those beautiful colors were specifically to celebrate me. Years later I figured out that they may not have been 100% for my birthday, but I remember that time fondly when we’d take the drive up and meet my Nunny and Aunt Betty for the evening’s festivities. I’d watch in awe as those red, white and purple explosions would light up the sky and the water below.
Though we missed the fireworks this year, it was important to me that we take a summer trip to Newburyport. So my mom, Arielle and I took that long drive the other day and had lunch at Sea Level Newburyport, then sat for a while on the boardwalk. It was such a simple, beautiful day and it brought back the most wonderful memories of my childhood that I hope to share with Arielle.
