Recently I listened to the audiobook, The Midnight Library. And if there was one huge takeaway that I learned from the eight and a half hours of driving that it took to find out how it ended, it’s that regrets get you nowhere in life. But I do wish that there was one thing that I knew 10 years ago that I’ve recently become very aware of:
You can change careers, switch homes, move on from old friends who are toxic to new friends who are inspiring and encouraging, and leave behind family members who are only interested in taking care of themselves no matter how much they hurt you. Knowing this would have saved me so much time, heartache, energy, and money.
So I don’t know who needs to hear this but I will repeat what I wish I’d known 10 years ago that I know now …
You don’t have to do one thing for the rest of your life. You don’t have to stay friends with someone just because you’ve known them forever. You don’t have to stay in the same place. You can do whatever you want to do. And I hope that you will because I know that’s how I’m living now and I’ve never felt better!
What about you… what’s the one thing you wish you’d known about 10 years ago?
