Earlier this week we took a few days up at the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe, Vermont. I have to be honest, this was the farthest we’ve traveled with Arielle and it was our longest vacation in two and a half years, since before Arielle was born! There are many reasons for why we haven’t had the opportunity to travel in a while, the biggest one being the pandemic. So I was a little rusty when it came to packing. But I knew what we should wear while traveling. Here is my advice on what to wear on a summer road trip.
Keep it Comfy
I always go with breathable, comfortable, and non-wrinkly fabrics. Pants shouldn’t be too tight because on long drives they can get to be too restricting. I like to wear shoes that are easily slipped on and off though most of the time I keep them on. If it’s summer, I like to wear a loose sundress. For Arielle, I always put her in pants or shorts because dresses and skirts get pinned in her car seat.
Be Prepared for A/C
More than once I’ve made the mistake of not having a sweater or sweatshirt available to cover up when the A/C gets to be too much in the summer. So now I try to remember to have something, even if I just end up putting it on my lap.
Stay Stylish
While it’s important to dress comfortably and to be ready for the chill of the A/C, you should never sacrifice your style. When we take long road trips, we like to make stops in pretty little places like Portsmouth, NH, or Wickford, RI. And I do not like to wear sweatpants in public nor do I want to take the time to change. And with so many options out there now with the rise of fashionably loungewear and athleisure, as well as easy to care for fabrics on sites like Amazon, it’s easier to look great and be comfortable at the same time.
Below I’ve linked to a few pieces that I wear on our summer road trips.
