Welcome back to our monthly series – What We’ve Been Loving Lately! In this installment of our wrap-up of some of the things we’ve been into over the past few weeks, we’re focusing on some summer fun and lots of shopping. If you haven’t read the June edition, you can check that out too for some great suggestions on new shows and products. So, here’s what we’ve been loving lately …
My Furbabies turned 10
I just can’t even believe my little boys, Sherlock and Watson, are turning a decade old. We adopted these two brothers the October after we moved into our house at almost 10 weeks old. They were so tiny, they both fit in Alex’s cap! When we brought Arielle home from the hospital, we were worried that two cats would not take to her. After all, they’d been our only babies for almost 7 years. But we were so lucky that they both accepted her in their own ways, Sherlock loves to snuggle with her, while Watson mostly keeps his distance but does love a belly rub from her every once and a while. Time really does fly by!
We are continuing to fill up our dance card!
This past month I worked with Shop Nantucket to bring attention to the amazing boutiques and restaurants you will find on this quintessential east coast island, and I had such an amazing time. I know it may seem like summer is on its way out (though the weather will have you believe otherwise) but if you haven’t visited this New England mainstay, there is still time for a quick day trip or an overnight! You can see more about my trip over on Instagram. I also worked with the New England Zoo to promote the Supersized Creatures! exhibit at the Stone Zoo, and Boston Lights at the Franklin Park Zoo. Both shows are incredible so if you’re local to the area or will be in Boston in August or September, make sure to add a trip to both zoos to your itinerary. I have a bunch more collaborations in the works that I cannot share yet so make sure you stay tuned to the blog and my IG to see what’s happening!
What’s on TV
The Tour de France wrapped up on Sunday, 7/24, and we watched every single stage of the 21 days. I am not a huge sports fan, nor am I a big bicyclist (I almost caused an international incident when I ran into a group of tourists on segways while riding a bike along the Seine), but over the past few years I’ve tried to catch as much of it as possible. It is an amazing example of endurance and sportsmanship, and the scenery you get to see along the way doesn’t hurt either! We’re now watching the women’s race, the Tour de France Femmes, on Peacock which will be wrapping up this Sunday, 7/31. I love showing Arielle that women can do anything they want to do. It’s just inspiring!
Our post-Arielle bedtime viewing continues to be moving through episodes of The West Wing (we’re almost wrapped season 4) and the most recent installments to Only Murders in the Building, probably my favorite show on TV right now.
What we Bought in July
I cannot wait for these Jimmy Choo dupes to arrive! I am hoping they are as good as the reviews say they are because I’m planning to wear them for my birthday celebrations. Normally, I wouldn’t bother with knockoffs (bad memories of Canal Street during college in NYC) but with my cats, I have a feeling these will not escape their wrath and the last thing I want is to find chewed up Choos (I had too!) on my bedroom floor. I hope to wear them with my new pink Kurt Geiger Kensington Vinyl Convertible Shoulder Bag that I got at this year’s Nordstrom sale, and a hot pink satin cowl strap dress from Primark (but you can find similar options here, here and here).
Because I can’t get enough pink, I grabbed these sandals that you’ve definitely seen on my Weekly Wardrobe posts and are currently on clearance. Also from the Nordstrom sale I picked up a pair of my favorite moto pants for Arielle and a faux fur coat that matches one of mine. Stay tuned to plenty of matching outfits this fall.
Now, onto what we’re Not Loving
The decisions being made by SCOTUS continue to baffle me and many others I know. The fact that in certain states (though luckily, not where I call home) women are unable to obtain an abortion for any reason is extremely concerning. This may sound strange coming from a mother, especially one that has undergone miscarriages in the past. But I realize that if I had lived somewhere else I could possibly be punished for those miscarriages. This is both upsetting and disgusting. I am glad to hear that my state is not only protecting a women’s right to choose but also attempting to provide sanctuary for those from out of state seeking medical care. Because that is what it actually comes down to – access to medical care and SCOTUS has essentially taken that away.
So what have you been loving (or not loving) lately? I’d love it if you’d email or DM me your recommendations.
