In January I got really honest about how I needed to change up my lifestyle and set some goals for myself. Then at the beginning of February I made a few adjustments to achieve those goals. In my second check-in on my New Year’s Intentions for 2021, I’m sharing how I’m doing with these adjustments and how I am moving forward.
Setting Boundaries
About 90% of the time I’ve kept to my 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. rule for any work or business communication and it’s allowed me to really enjoy the mornings and evenings with my family. This month I’d like to get better about not working on the weekends.
One Step at a Time
This month I dealt with some serious sleep issues. I’m talking horror film-worthy nightmares where I’d wake up in a cold sweat more exhausted than when I went to bed. To deal with this I put aside my other health and wellness goals and focused on trying to figure out why I was having these nightmares and then getting on a better sleep schedule. Thanks to some follower and friend suggestions, I’m happy to report that the nightmares seem to have stopped and the past few nights I’ve gotten some good sleep. In March, I plan to get back on track with my healthy eating program which I feel will also be a big help with my sleep issues.
Get at Least Some Movement in Every Day
With my lack of sleep, there were very few days that I felt like getting in a sweat session. So instead I have dance parties with Arielle, take short walks, or I do some gentle stretching exercises. This month I plan to reincorporate some yoga into my routine so that I can slowly get back into a more regular workout regimen.
What I’m looking Forward to This Month and Beyond
With the roll out of the Covid-19 vaccine (my mom just got her first shot!), I’m finally feeling hopeful that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I recently read an article that said it’s good for your mental health to get at least a few things on your schedule for the next couple of months. So while we’re still thinking we’ll stick to a celebratory caravan for Arielle’s second birthday in May, we are planning to safely attend my Nunny’s 100th birthday bash in June. And I am hopeful that we may be able to celebrate our seventh wedding anniversary in August with dinner in the city. This month will be about making tentative plans – maybe I’ll even dream up a vacation!
