3 Cute Cafes You Must Visit in Newport, RI

Newport, RI

January 19, 2022

There are a few things that I love to do when I visit somewhere new that helps me feel at home. One of those rituals is to find a cute coffee shop to grab a pick-me-up and log on to the wifi to check in on any pressing business matters and, if we’re traveling internationally, get in touch with our families. There is just something about finding a cozy spot and curling up with a warm beverage that allows you to reset before heading back out for your next adventure. Am I right? Well when we were in Newport in December I got to check out quite a few local coffee shops between mansion-hopping.  Here are 3 cute cafes you must visit in Newport, RI.

Kaffeology

359 Thames St.

Kaffeology has so much personality it’s no wonder the owner once worked as a manager for Walt Disney World Restaurants. In 2017 she moved back to New England and it was on a trip to Newport she found her first location for Kaffeology. Now she has a shop on Thames Street and another location in Portsmouth, RI. With over-the-top latte offerings like a maple bourbon latte, coconut brulee, and the nightcap hot chocolate, this small shop puts Starbucks to shame. They also have an incredible selection of macarons and to die for pastries. Next time I want to try the chocolate hazelnut chai and one of their tartines. I love a good tartine!

Empire Tea & Coffee

112 William St

Right before we left town we had the opportunity to stop in at Empire Tea & Coffee and it was worth it. Empire actually has two locations in Newport and one in Bristol, RI. The flagship cafe opened in 2004 and is located on Bellevue Avenue, across the street from the Tennis Hall of Fame. They have adorable window seats that seem to defy gravity along with a great tea selection. I enjoyed the Nutcracker tea latte, one of their holiday seasonal offerings, and a superb bagel and lox. If you are feeling peckish, just be aware that the kitchen closes an hour before the cafe.

Coffee Grinder

33 Bannister’s Wharf

I wanted to include the Coffee Grinder so that anyone looking for cute cafes will know that this gem is now closed. If location is everything then Coffee Grinder had won the jackpot. Located on the very end of Bannister’s Wharf, overlooking historic Newport harbor, this charming espresso bar served coffee and pastries for 25 years. Unfortunately, the landlords chose not to renew the lease. I’m so glad that I got there once!

I know there are a lot more cute, Instagrammable cafes in Newport and I look forward to exploring them next time I visit so if you have any suggestions, please drop them below or DM me!

What it’s Like to Have a Miscarriage

Don’t get me wrong, I will always have a soft spot Don’t get me wrong, I will always have a soft spot for a classic Disney romance and a sweeping ballgown. But there is something incredibly refreshing about Moana—a story that trades the glass slippers for an outrigger canoe and focuses entirely on self-discovery. 🌺

A young girl leaving everything she knows behind, taking on the gods, and saving the world completely on her own? That is the exact kind of rebellious sparkle and unapologetic ambition we celebrate in this house.

Why the Live-Action Hits Different:
🐚 Growing Up with the Magic: The new live-action film has a slightly more serious, grounded edge to it. It’s been amazing watching Arielle transition from the animated classic to this version—it feels like the story has grown up right alongside her, offering a beautiful new perspective for the girls who have loved it for years.
🐚 The Fun Factor: Yes, seeing The Rock belting out a tune and hitting choreo in real life is exactly as iconic as you’d hope.
🐚 That Signature Sparkle: They seamlessly wove breathtaking animation into the live-action scenes, keeping the undeniable Disney magic alive while elevating the grit and beauty of the story.

Do I want my girls dodging lava monsters or navigating treacherous oceans alone? Hard pass (getting everyone through a chaotic airport in one piece is adventure enough for me 🥂). But do I want them absorbing every ounce of that fierce, boundary-pushing spirit? Absolutely.

Here’s to raising girls who build their own boats, chart their own courses, and never let anyone dictate what they can or cannot do. 🖤🌺

Moana opens in theaters on Friday - a big thanks to @alliedglobalmarketing for giving us a sneak preview last night!

Also, can I please get a little love for my Moana #disneybounding? If you want to grab my look for when you head to the theater, head to my LTK (link in bio or the link below!

It’s history with a little friendly competition, a beautiful waterfront breeze, and the perfect excuse to put on a cute skirt and grab an iced coffee.

Here is the intel you need for your tactical family operation:

Let’s be honest: wrangling the kids through a massive Boston harbor event requires the strategic planning of a military operation—but make it fashion.

The Tall Ships are taking over the city for Sail Boston from July 11-16, and it is going to be absolutely spectacular.

If you want to catch the jaw-dropping Parade of Sail this Saturday without losing your sanity (or your favorite sun hat), swipe through this carousel.

I’ve broken down the absolute best spots to drop anchor, the VIP ships to watch for, and exactly how to navigate the crowds with your crew in tow.

Because yes, we are absolutely taking the girls to see 50+ floating masterpieces from around the world, and yes, we are going to look fabulous doing it.

Sneakers on, iced coffee in hand, let’s go. ✨⛵️

Redcoats, but make it fashion. 🇺🇸✨ It’s the 250th Redcoats, but make it fashion. 🇺🇸✨

It’s the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution and if you want to skip the standard backyard barbecue this summer, Boston and its surrounding suburbs are the ultimate playground for mixing history with a little glam. You can absolutely immerse yourself in the American Revolution, keep the kids wildly entertained, and still look effortlessly chic doing it.

Our Must-Hit Revolutionary Roster:

⭐️ Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum: Interactive, fun, and totally immersive. Make sure to stop by Abigail’s Tea Room afterwards for some tasty treats and a cuppa the tea that was actually thrown into the Boston Harbor - well, not that tea but the same tea blend. (Pro tip: The kids will love throwing the tea overboard).

⭐️ USS Constitution: Nautical history at its finest. Grab tickets to the actual Museum at your local library and you can get in for free (otherwise there is a charge). Entrance to the Visitor’s Center and the actual ship is free. Pair with a walk around the Charlestown Navy Yard which has a lot of fun new restaurants.

⭐️ Lexington Battle Green: The perfect spot to soak in history while letting the kids run wild on the open grass. The downtown is a lot of fun to wander around and do some shopping.

⭐️ Concord’s North Bridge: Simply stunning. The perfect backdrop for a scenic walk and a little reflection. Then head into town for a fun afternoon or you can head to Sleepy Hollow Cemetery to visit the graves of famous authors like Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Louisa May Alcott along Author’s Ridge.

History is an adventure—book the tickets, pack a chic day bag, and say yes to exploring.
