Let’s face it, over the past year there hasn’t been much more to do than eat, work and binge-watch TV. And even with the vaccine making the rounds, officials are still saying we shouldn’t necessarily be running out to concerts and big parties for a while. So it looks like binge-watching as our main source of entertainment is here to stay. If you’re finding yourself at a loss for something to watch, here are five shows that I’ve become obsessed with during Quarantine, five shows to binge-watch now!
Father Brown
Britbox
I know what you’re thinking – a show about a Catholic priest in 1950s rural England sounds boring and preachy. But Father Brown is not like that at all. This murder mystery show is surprisingly sexy and loads of fun. And the fashion is to die for (no pun intended)!
Shakespeare & Hathaway – Private Investigators
Britbox
My mom recently turned me on to this show and we’ve already watched all three seasons. It’s about a crime-solving duo in Stratford-upon-Avon named, appropriately, Shakespeare and Hathaway. Not only does the show have lots of twists and turns, it’s also really funny.
Schitt’s Creek
Netflix
This show has been on my radar for a while but since we didn’t have Pop TV I was never able to watch it … until Schitt’s Creek made its way to Netflix. Last night I actually had a dream that Catherine O’Hara (already a favorite actress of mine and now I’m only more in love with her) was a guest on my podcast. I woke up so broken-hearted that it wasn’t true!
This is a Robbery: The World’s Biggest Art Heist
Netflix
This is a short one – only four episodes that run about an hour apiece, but each packs a real punch. I wanted to watch This is a Robbery because it is all about the 1990 robbery of one of my favorite museums, The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. What I didn’t expect to learn was that one of the world’s most famous art thieves once lived only a town over from my uncle when he had his Cape house and that even though it is still considered the largest art heist of all times, the BPD and FBI didn’t throw too much effort into solving the case. Just a week after the robbery, many members of the Boston mafia were thrown in jail on unrelated charges – so I guess authorities were a bit busy.
Waffles & Mochi
Netflix
I love Michelle Obama. But when I turned on her new Netflix show, Waffles & Mochi, to entertain Arielle Marie one afternoon, I did not expect to fall head over heels for the muppet-inspired food-focused kids’ show. Not only is each episode packed with celebrity appearances (by actors and chefs alike), I also learned so much about where our food comes from. We’ve watched all 10 episodes and I can’t wait for a second season.
There you go – five shows to binge-watch now. Since I have finished all of the above (and rewatched my favorite episodes of each), I’m looking for new recommendations. Please DM me with your favorite shows to binge!
