They actually called me “Queen Barbie” while we were here, and honestly? I’m never giving the title back. 👑✨

Raising two girly-girl mini-mes means I get to relive all the best parts of my childhood, but this time with a much better wardrobe and a fabulous pink cocktail in hand. 🍸

We finally made our way to the Malibu Barbie Cafe in Boston, and it was everything my inner child (and my two actual children) could have dreamed of. From lounging on the Malibu beach and answering calls in the retro phone booth, to splitting the most epic Barbie Cupcake Boat after a surprisingly delicious dinner—the vibes were immaculate. It’s part nostalgic wonderland, part downtown chic, and entirely unforgettable.

If you want to step into the Dreamhouse, you have to move fast. The Barbie Cafe is packing up its convertible and leaving Boston on July 19th!

Don’t get me wrong, I will always have a soft spot for a classic Disney romance and a sweeping ballgown. But there is something incredibly refreshing about Moana—a story that trades the glass slippers for an outrigger canoe and focuses entirely on self-discovery. 🌺

A young girl leaving everything she knows behind, taking on the gods, and saving the world completely on her own? That is the exact kind of rebellious sparkle and unapologetic ambition we celebrate in this house.

Why the Live-Action Hits Different:
🐚 Growing Up with the Magic: The new live-action film has a slightly more serious, grounded edge to it. It’s been amazing watching Arielle transition from the animated classic to this version—it feels like the story has grown up right alongside her, offering a beautiful new perspective for the girls who have loved it for years.
🐚 The Fun Factor: Yes, seeing The Rock belting out a tune and hitting choreo in real life is exactly as iconic as you’d hope.
🐚 That Signature Sparkle: They seamlessly wove breathtaking animation into the live-action scenes, keeping the undeniable Disney magic alive while elevating the grit and beauty of the story.

Do I want my girls dodging lava monsters or navigating treacherous oceans alone? Hard pass (getting everyone through a chaotic airport in one piece is adventure enough for me 🥂). But do I want them absorbing every ounce of that fierce, boundary-pushing spirit? Absolutely.
