What I Wore on our Trip to Maine

Ogunquit, Maine

July 20, 2022

fashion-travel-blogger

Over the weekend we took a drive up to Ogunquit, Maine to enjoy a few days in Vacationland. I am usually much more organized when it comes to planning my trip outfits, but this time around I was swamped. I had a ton of work on my plate early in the week and then I headed down to Nantucket on Thursday to spend the day with NIR Retail (something I’ll be sharing over on my Instagram soon. A big thank you to everyone at Shop Nantucket for hosting me!). So I will admit that my packing for this trip was a bit all over the place. Luckily, I seemed to get together. Here is what I wore on our trip to Maine.

They actually called me “Queen Barbie” while we we They actually called me “Queen Barbie” while we were here, and honestly? I’m never giving the title back. 👑✨

Raising two girly-girl mini-mes means I get to relive all the best parts of my childhood, but this time with a much better wardrobe and a fabulous pink cocktail in hand. 🍸

We finally made our way to the Malibu Barbie Cafe in Boston, and it was everything my inner child (and my two actual children) could have dreamed of. From lounging on the Malibu beach and answering calls in the retro phone booth, to splitting the most epic Barbie Cupcake Boat after a surprisingly delicious dinner—the vibes were immaculate. It’s part nostalgic wonderland, part downtown chic, and entirely unforgettable.

If you want to step into the Dreamhouse, you have to move fast. The Barbie Cafe is packing up its convertible and leaving Boston on July 19th!

Here is your Queen Barbie itinerary:

📸 Snap a photo by the giant boom box & inside the iconic Barbie Box

🧁 Order the Cupcake Boat (trust me, the kids’ faces are worth it)

🥂 Treat yourself to a pink cocktail, because Mama Barbie deserves it

Tag your favorite girl mom or your own Barbie squad—you have until July 19th to make it happen! 💖✈️

Don’t get me wrong, I will always have a soft spot Don’t get me wrong, I will always have a soft spot for a classic Disney romance and a sweeping ballgown. But there is something incredibly refreshing about Moana—a story that trades the glass slippers for an outrigger canoe and focuses entirely on self-discovery. 🌺

A young girl leaving everything she knows behind, taking on the gods, and saving the world completely on her own? That is the exact kind of rebellious sparkle and unapologetic ambition we celebrate in this house.

Why the Live-Action Hits Different:
🐚 Growing Up with the Magic: The new live-action film has a slightly more serious, grounded edge to it. It’s been amazing watching Arielle transition from the animated classic to this version—it feels like the story has grown up right alongside her, offering a beautiful new perspective for the girls who have loved it for years.
🐚 The Fun Factor: Yes, seeing The Rock belting out a tune and hitting choreo in real life is exactly as iconic as you’d hope.
🐚 That Signature Sparkle: They seamlessly wove breathtaking animation into the live-action scenes, keeping the undeniable Disney magic alive while elevating the grit and beauty of the story.

Do I want my girls dodging lava monsters or navigating treacherous oceans alone? Hard pass (getting everyone through a chaotic airport in one piece is adventure enough for me 🥂). But do I want them absorbing every ounce of that fierce, boundary-pushing spirit? Absolutely.

Here’s to raising girls who build their own boats, chart their own courses, and never let anyone dictate what they can or cannot do. 🖤🌺

Moana opens in theaters on Friday - a big thanks to @alliedglobalmarketing for giving us a sneak preview last night!

Also, can I please get a little love for my Moana #disneybounding? If you want to grab my look for when you head to the theater, head to my LTK (link in bio or the link below!

If you’re looking for a way to entertain the kids in the city without spending a dime, I have found your weekend plans. The USS Constitution Museum has set up a 9-hole mini-golf course right in the Charlestown Navy Yard, and it is absolute perfection.

It’s history with a little friendly competition, a beautiful waterfront breeze, and the perfect excuse to put on a cute skirt and grab an iced coffee.

Here is the intel you need for your tactical family operation:
✨ What: 9-Hole Revolutionary Mini Golf
📍 Where: USS Constitution Museum, Charlestown Navy Yard
⏰ When: Daily from 11:00 am - 4:30 pm (through October!)
💸 Cost: Absolutely FREE. No registration required.

Aurora may or may not have taken the “defiance” part of the course a little too seriously, but they had a blast.

Let’s be honest: wrangling the kids through a massive Boston harbor event requires the strategic planning of a military operation—but make it fashion.

The Tall Ships are taking over the city for Sail Boston from July 11-16, and it is going to be absolutely spectacular.

If you want to catch the jaw-dropping Parade of Sail this Saturday without losing your sanity (or your favorite sun hat), swipe through this carousel.

I’ve broken down the absolute best spots to drop anchor, the VIP ships to watch for, and exactly how to navigate the crowds with your crew in tow.

Because yes, we are absolutely taking the girls to see 50+ floating masterpieces from around the world, and yes, we are going to look fabulous doing it.

Sneakers on, iced coffee in hand, let’s go. ✨⛵️

Happy 4th of July to the rule-breakers, the advoca Happy 4th of July to the rule-breakers, the advocates, and everyone who likes their independence with a little rock ’n’ roll edge. 🎸✨

Today, I’m raising a glass to liberty, justice, and the unapologetic belief that true freedom must include:

✨ Unrestricted access to healthcare
✨ Fully funded boards of education
✨ And absolutely, unequivocally, no kings. 👑🚫
