Mystic, Connecticut, is a charming coastal town that’s brimming with delightful surprises. While its historic seaport and captivating aquarium often steal the spotlight, Mystic also boasts a collection of adorable cafes that are perfect for a cozy coffee break, a sweet treat, or a whimsical escape. Here are three of my favorites:
1. Alice in the Village
Step into a whimsical wonderland at Alice in the Village. This enchanting cafe, nestled in Olde Mistick Village, is inspired by the beloved tales of Alice in Wonderland. With its quirky decor, colorful treats, and playful atmosphere, it’s a feast for the senses and a delight for all ages.
Must-Try: Their creative coffee creations and colorful pastries are a must.
Instagrammable Moment: Capture the whimsical ambiance with a photo against the backdrop of their floral and lace parasol archway. The neon signs add a modern touch!
2. The Cloak and Wand
For those who dream of Hogwarts and magical adventures, The Cloak and Wand is a must-visit. This unique café and shop offers a delightful blend of wizarding wonders and delicious treats. Sip on a “Butterbeer” latte, indulge in a “Cauldron Cake,” and browse their collection of wands, robes, and other magical merchandise.
Must-Try: Their “Potion Making” is a fun and interactive experience for both kids and adults to craft their drinks.
Instagrammable Moment: Capture the magic with a photo of yourself sipping a colorful potion or posing with a wand in front of their enchanting storefront.
3. Popover Eatery
Start your day with a delicious and comforting breakfast at Popover Eatery. This cozy café offers a delightful menu of classic breakfast dishes with a twist, including their famous popovers.
Must-Try: Their Egg Nog French Toast is a festive and delicious treat, and their popovers are light, fluffy, and perfect for sharing.
Instagrammable Moment: Capture the charm of their rustic-chic décor and the mouthwatering presentation of their dishes.
Beyond the Bites:
These cafes offer more than just delicious food and drinks. They’re also spaces to connect with friends, enjoy a quiet moment of solitude, or simply soak up the charming atmosphere of Mystic. So, next time you’re exploring this captivating coastal town, be sure to add these delightful cafes to your itinerary – which reminds me!
