We are almost to the first official day of fall and it’s beginning to feel very crisp and cool in New England. But before I put the warm weather behind me, I’m sharing some of my favorite moments of Summer 2022.
Arielle’s 3rd Birthday
We were actually able to have a birthday party for Arielle this year – her first real party! It was an Encanto-themed Three-esta and she really enjoyed celebrating with family and friends.
Arielle’s Hip Dysplasia is Cured
This may be the best news I’ve gotten in years. Arielle’s hip dysplasia is now in our rearview mirror and we are so excited that she no longer has to wear her brace at night.
July 4th
We brought back our July 4th Party – the first since having Arielle. I have to say, it was fun but a lot more work than I remember it being, and by the time the fireworks rolled around I really just wanted to go to bed. Ah, the price of being popular (I kid).
Zoo Days
Arielle loves animals so partnering with Zoo New England for their Supersized Creatures exhibit at the Stone Zoo and Franklin Park Zoo for Boston Lights just felt like a perfect fit. Both events were so much fun for the whole family. We may have to squeeze in another visit to Boston Lights before it closes in October.
A Day on Nantucket
While the trip to Nantucket can be a bit of a hike, it is always worth it. I was honored to once again be hosted by ShopNantucket this summer. We visited some of the island’s best boutiques and dined on some seriously good pizza. I didn’t want to leave! Nantucket is also beautiful in the fall so if you haven’t visited yet, it’s time to plan your trip!
Our Trip to Ogunquit
It had been a while since I’d visited Maine for an overnight. I found Oguncuit to be charming and really enjoyed poking around Perkins Cove, the inspiration for Murder, She Wrote’s Cabot Cove.
Shopping in Newburyport
I started my birthday celebrations off a bit early with a trip to Newburyport, courtesy of ShopNewburyport. Lively Kids is the cutest little boutique full of beautiful children’s clothing and toys, while Michael’s Harborside is the best place for a lobster roll.

Doing the Charleston at the Roaring 20s Party
I am obsessed with the glamour of the 20s (my wedding was even 1920s themed) so I was thrilled we were able to attend The Roaring 20s Lawn Party at the Crane Estate. We had first gone in 2018, but between Arielle and then Covid hadn’t had the chance to make a return appearance. This time was even better because we brought Arielle with us and she was the life of the party!
Beach Days
Though we never get in as much beach time as we’d like, we did get a few days in this summer and Arielle loved playing in the sand. What she didn’t love? Getting sand in her mouth – seriously, she was off for the rest of the day after mistakenly ingesting a few grains. I can’t blame her, but when even mini M&Ms don’t help the taste, there is no getting over it.
Our Anniversary
Disclaimer: Arielle took this picture on our anniversary. For the second year in a row we were able to get away for our anniversary (which I’ll share more about below). This August 16th marked 8 years married and while we have our moments, life just keeps getting better.
The Berkshires Trip
I hadn’t been to the Berkshires in years so when I had the opportunity to go anywhere in Massachusetts this summer, I knew I wanted to explore the western part of the state. We had the time of our lives on our little family vacation and even celebrated our anniversary during our trip.
Boat Cruise of Boston Harbor
Up until 2017, I had never taken a boat cruise of Boston Harbor despite living in the area for most of my life. Now I’ve gone every summer except for 2020 (Covid precautions) and each time I have so much fun!
All in all, this was an amazing season and though I am sad to see it go, I’m excited to see what the rest of 2022 brings.
