My Holiday Wishlist

Dear Santa,

I think you know it’s been a hard year for everyone. My family has been one of the lucky ones. We have an income, we have food and a warm, cozy, safe place to call home. And unlike so many this year, we have been very fortunate to have our health. So if you’re looking for my holiday wish list, here is what I’d like …

Though I know that masks are very important and we’ve all been good about wearing them, I’d love for Arielle to be able to see the smiles she brings to her aunts and uncle’s faces. 

I wish that my mom could hug my sister safely. I know how much she misses it and as a mom myself, I can only imagine how hard it is to not be able to hug your child. The same goes for every mom and dad out there who has been unable to hug their children for fear of spreading or getting the virus.

I wish that my husband would be able to hang out with his friends and at his office again. I know how much he misses it, and he works so hard.

I wish that my sister and brother-in-law could finally make that move to Florida. 

I wish that all the front line workers, nurses, doctors, etc., will have an opportunity to enjoy the holiday with their family after all of the incredible and heartbreaking work they’ve done this year.

Most of all, I wish that everyone stays safe and healthy this holiday season, and that next season we’ll be able to celebrate together and put this scary chapter behind us. 

That’s a lot to ask, I know. But I also know that between a little holiday magic and us all being safe and smart, that all of these wishes will come true eventually.
