Three Pretty Beach Towns you must visit on the North Shore

Growing up on the North Shore, I never realized how spoiled I was when it came to beach access. We have some of the most stunning beaches in New England, and with beaches come adorable beach towns full of charm. Here are three pretty beach towns you must visit on the North Shore.

Marblehead

As a small peninsula, Marblehead has several beaches but its premier spot is Devereux Beach. Located off Ocean Avenue at the beginning of the Causeway to Marblehead Neck, Devereux Beach offers great swimming in the Atlantic Ocean, as well as comfortable benches, picnic tables for afternoon snacks, Neck Run Cafe, and plenty of parking. After you get in some fun in the sun, head into town to shop the boutiques or grab dinner at 5 Corners Kitchen.

Ipswich

There aren’t many locations in the world where you can spend your morning at the beach and then walk up the hill to tour a 1920s Tudor Revival Mansion in the afternoon. But that’s what you’ll find when you hit Crane Beach in Ipswich, MA. This gorgeous beach is the perfect place to take a dip, but make sure you pack some dry clothes so you can check out the Crane Estate at Castle Hill. On your way out of town, make sure to pick up a few bottles of award-winning win at Russell Orchards (you can read more about Russell Orchards here).

Rockport

Rockport has to be one of my favorite places in the world. Front Beach is small but its location is unmatched. You walk off the sand into the center of this tiny village. Bearskin Neck is where you’ll find clothing, jewelry and specialty stores, as well as art galleries. I always stop into the Bearskin Neck Country Store and The Fudgery. If you’re feeling peckish after your morning swim, Roy Moore Lobster Shack is the best place to get a lobster, while Helmut’s Strudel provides delicious coffee and pastries. My Place by the Sea has a beautiful view of the ocean and is an excellent choice for a night out on the town.
