Insert Justin Timberlake, “It’s Gonna be May” meme here. This is now my fourth check-in on my yearly goals. And I am so excited to announce that I have received my first Covid-19 vaccination, with my second one coming up in just a week and a half! Because I’ve realized that the only way to achieve goals is to continuously make adjustments, I’ve shared how I’ve been doing in February, March and April. Once again, I’m sharing how I’m doing with these adjustments and how I am moving forward.
Setting Boundaries
As the weather has been getting better, I’ve been planning my work on the chillier or rainy days and then scheduling fun outings on the nicer ones. Am I getting as much done as I’d like? No. But I’ve noticed a huge difference in my work-life balance and it’s really helped me to savor our outings knowing that I already have my work time either completed or on the books.
One Step at a Time
The other day I had my first therapy session in over five years and it felt amazing. My anxiety has grown since the beginning of Covid and finally, I just got to a point where I realized that I needed to address it. While I have a long way to go and a lot of work to do, what I really appreciated is that my new therapist told me that I am doing a good job. While I hear that from Alex and my mom on the regular, it was nice to hear it from someone outside my bubble.
Get at Least Some Movement in Every Day
The better weather has also helped me to get a bit more active and I’m finding myself at least meeting my step goal. I’m not quite breaking a sweat every day. But I’m doing something and that’s what counts.
What I’m Looking Forward to This Month and Beyond
I’ve been working on plans for Arielle’s birthday caravan as well as Memorial Day. I’m looking forward to my second Mother’s Day and the weather just continuing to improve until we once again have hot summer days!
