I don’t think it’s any surprise when I say that I have a lot of clothes. Part of this blog is focused on fashion, after all. But it goes beyond the necessary. I’ve always been in love with clothes and accessories, even as a little girl. I haven’t grown since I was 10 years old (and yes, I do have clothes from that time). And my mom had some killer vintage pieces that she has passed down to me. But I don’t wear a fraction of what I have because it’s always been hard to find things or keep them organized. That’s why Alex built me my dream closet last year and I am in love!
I haven’t been ready to share this transformation until now because I just recently felt like I had outfitted it to my needs. But the time has come.
While I don’t actually have pictures from before he had painted and installed the new clothes rack and shelves, and you REALLY don’t want to see that, you can check out what it looked like before I “moved in” below.
And here it is, all set up! It may seem a bit cluttered, but it works for me. This is the closet that I keep my favorite clothes, purses and shoes. I also keep my special, designer buys here.
I’ve hung a few of my bags on Eiffel Tower hooks. And along the top of the space my collection of Minnie ears are on display. Since Arielle became very interested in my vanity, I had to move my favorite fragrances into the closet.
I developed a system to keep everything organized by color and type of item. From left to right it’s blazers, sweaters, shirts, skirts, pants, dresses and kimonos. Then I break that down by color, dark to light. The shelves for my clutches are divided by color. That makes it easy for me to find things.
Now it is such a joy for me to go through my closet, knowing where my favorite pieces are. And it’s such a pretty space which I feel is inspirational when I pick out my outfits (and it’s also where I record my podcast!). I am so grateful to Alex for helping create my dream closet!
