My Favorites from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

August 13, 2020

Boston Blogger Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has come to town! Usually I like to shop for these amazing bargains in person, but this year I’ll be shopping online from the comfort of home to maintain social distancing. Because of this, I decided to stay away from dresses and pants. I’m still working on the baby weight so sizing is very up in the air for me right now. Here are my favorites from The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

Women’s Tops

J.Crew Leopard Bomber Sweater Jacket (Regular & Plus Size) (Nordstrom Exclusive)

$98.90 on sale, $158.00 after the sale

I am a sucker for a unique bomber jacket. I’m an even bigger sucker for leopard print. Combine the two and I just can’t say no! I plan on wearing it with either a fall dress or a pair of jeans with the Cole Haan GrandPro Low Top Sneakers (see below).

Adidas Swift Kids Sneakers

$39.90 on sale, $65 after the sale

I had actually bought the women’s version of this versatile sneaker in black (which is now sold out!) but as I was looking through the kids section for Arielle, I found these beauties. I ended up getting both the ash pearl and the black. I’ll be returning the women’s size because they are the exact same shoe and cost $10 more!

I got Big Kids size 5.5 which is the equivalent of a Womens 38 in European sizes or 7.5 in American sizes. You can check out the conversion chart from Adidas here.

Longchamp Le Pliage Expandable Tote (Nordstrom Exclusive)

$119.90 on sale, $195 after the sale

This is probably the most versatile piece in the sale. I love using my Large Le Pliage Lonchamp tote as a carry on. In fact it did double duty as my purse during my winter 2018 trip to Iceland and England (where I exclusively wore another one of my sale picks, the Sorel Joan of Arctic II Waterproof Wedge Boots – they are so comfortable and chic!). But the expandable option will allow me to fit some of my delicate souvenirs for my trips home. This is mostly hopeful thinking, but I know someday I’ll be back to traveling.

Tucker + Tate Washed Moto Leggings

$11.90 on sale, $19 after the sale

I got these adorable leggings for Arielle during last year’s Anniversary sale in the 3-6 months size and they ended up fitting her until she was almost 10 months old! They aren’t oversized necessarily, they just have a lot of stretch in them and they are by far my favorite pants on her. So much so that I got her the 18 and 24 months size in the black rock wash and the pink peachskin in 18 months. If I like the pink, I’ll be ordering the 24 months size too!

What have you got in your cart? Have you found any great beauty picks? Let me know down below and happy shopping!

What it’s Like to Have a Miscarriage

@BostonBallet just delivered the ultimate lesson i @BostonBallet just delivered the ultimate lesson in contrast, and I am entirely here for it. 🥂✨

Alex and I kicked off date night trading our usual routine for the moody, electric energy of Hobgoblin, before stepping into the undeniable, old-world glamour of the Citizen’s Opera House.

If you think contemporary ballet is always intensely serious, the Fall Experience is about to beautifully prove you wrong. The program is an absolute masterclass in duality. We were hit with the unapologetic power of orchestral selections from Stravinsky’s The Firebird and the gripping, primal ritual of Vertical Road, but the absolute scene-stealer of the night was Alexander Ekman’s Cacti. It is cheeky, rhythm-driven, and gently pokes fun at the pretentious need to over-analyze everything. I think I will always remember that unique Pas de deux that ended with a stuffed cat falling from the ceiling.

Yes, you read that right.

Sometimes, you don’t need a deep, philosophical meaning—sometimes you just need brilliant percussion, incredible dancers, a cat and literal cacti on stage.

It was the perfect mix of grit, effortless glamour, and pure theatrical magic.

Don’t forget to grab your tickets to Boston Ballet’s Fall Experience before it closes September 20.

What is the most confusing or brilliant piece of modern art you’ve ever seen? Tell me I’m not the only one who just wants to enjoy the rhythm without a dissertation! 👇🥂

When I lived in New York, the places where the Twi When I lived in New York, the places where the Twin Towers once stood were just giant, gaping holes in the ground. There were makeshift memorials of flowers and photos, but I lived just down the street and avoided the area like the plague. It felt like a land of tragedy, heavy with the ghosts of lives lost far too soon.

So for years, on countless visits back to the city, I never went to the memorial. I just couldn’t.

That changed in August 2025. It was the girls’ first trip to NYC, and my first time seeing the 9/11 memorial pools. I’ll admit, I became far more emotional than I ever expected. Even all those years later, even though I was just a young teen when it happened, I felt my heart in my throat walking through the plaza.

And then we saw it. The Survivor Tree. In this vast space of mourning, it gave me so much hope. The same kind of brilliant, defiant hope my girls bring to me every single day.

It is so important that we never forget that day 25 years ago. But standing there, watching my daughters look up at the tree that refused to stop living, was a powerful reminder that it’s just as important that we keep on blooming. We have to keep living, beautifully and fiercely, for all those who can’t. 🕊️

Postcards from our final day in Newport, Rhode Isl Postcards from our final day in Newport, Rhode Island. 💌✨

We wrapped up our coastal escape with the ultimate high-low itinerary. We spent the morning wandering through the unbelievable grandeur of The Breakers. I fully encouraged Arielle and Aurora to pretend they owned the place, because why not?

Once we had our fill of Gilded Age opulence, we traded the marble halls for the classic, salty-air charm of Bannister’s Wharf. Alex and I tag-teamed the lunch rush at The Black Pearl (because finding incredible pescatarian-friendly coastal food and delicious cocktails is my absolute love language), before capping off the trip the only acceptable way: with a very necessary, very messy sugar rush at Sprinkles Ice Cream.

It was the perfect blend of architectural sparkle and sticky-fingered childhood joy. Au revoir, Newport. You were an absolute dream. 🥂

Okay, settle a debate for me: if you only had one hour left in Newport, are you spending it getting lost in the grandeur of The Breakers, or are you grabbing a table at The Black Pearl? Drop your vote below! 👇✨

If Holly Golightly took a family road trip to Rhod If Holly Golightly took a family road trip to Rhode Island, I like to think her first day would look a little something like this. 🥂✨

Newport is basically a masterclass in high-low travel, which is exactly my love language. We kicked off our first day channeling pure Gilded Age glamour at Rosecliff (highly recommend letting your girls pretend they own the place on the back lawn), before shifting gears for lunch at Pasta Beach and a wind-in-our-hair spin down the Scenic Drive.

We balanced out the opulent sparkle with the moodier, gorgeous architecture of Kingscote, did a little cobblestone strutting down Bannister’s Wharf, and wrapped the whole glorious marathon exactly where we belong: on the patio at O’Briens. They even let the kiddos fish with magnetic rods and matching “fish” in the fountain!

Because there is nothing chicer than pairing a fabulous outfit and a head full of historic architecture with a cold drink and casual pub food while Alex and I wrangle the girls.

Who says you can’t have the mansions and the casual pints, too? Not us.

Tell me your travel style below—are you team Gilded Age glamour, or team pub-patio-with-a-pint? (Or if you’re like me, you absolutely refuse to choose). 👇✨

And just like that, my baby has a backpack. When And just like that, my baby has a backpack.

When asked about the future, she skips the predictable and goes straight for the extraordinary: “I’m going to be a butterfly.” 🦋

Never lose that spark, sweet girl. Don’t let anyone convince you to dim your glitter, fit into a tiny box, or stay grounded when you were born to take flight. Go show preschool what you’re made of—sparkle, grit, and pure magic.

The wings already suit you. 🦋✨

They say packing for a family road trip is a marat They say packing for a family road trip is a marathon, but honestly? It’s just the perfect excuse to curate a killer high-low travel wardrobe. 🥂✨

From a private tour of the Empire State Building to chasing Arielle and Aurora through Newport mansions, this trip was all about blending Parisian nonchalance with a little NYC grit. Whether I was dusting off a vintage Armani straw hat for tea at The Plaza or living in a $30 wrinkle-proof Amazon dress 100 stories up at The Edge, the mission was simple: look fiercely put-together without sacrificing a drop of comfort. Because yes, you can absolutely museum-hop, wrangle kids, and still serve unapologetic glamour. 🖤🎀
