The 2020 Holiday Gift Guide

The North Pole

November 18, 2020

2020-Holiday-Gift-Guide-Gifts-for-Him-Gifts-for-Her-Gifts-for-Kids

I don’t know about you, but before I started putting together this gift guide, I hadn’t purchased a single Christmas present. Usually, I’m almost done before Thanksgiving. And though I’ve been watching Christmas movies since the day after Halloween (if Hallmark charged for the time I spend on their channel, I’d be broke by now), I just hadn’t felt inspired. For one thing the holidays are going to be very different this year with no real festive events or visits. I also wanted to be mindful of the fact that many people are having financial troubles due to the pandemic.

So I took all of that into consideration and assembled an array of gifts that are thoughtful, personal, sometimes a bit humorous, and most importantly, assures your grandmother, sister, brother, niece, nephew, bff, aunt, business bestie, uncle, etc., that they are not alone during these difficult times. And every item is under $100! You’ll find gifts for him, gifts for her, gifts for kids – gifts for everyone!

Without further ado, here is the Fashionably Kate & Co. 2020 Holiday Gift Guide!

Things you didn’t know you needed before the Pandemic

Colsie Women’s T-Shirt and Fleece Joggers Pajama Set with Scrunchie

I live in sweats these days. This set from Target comes in four colors and is cute and comfy – perfect for teens, wives and girlfriends.

[show_ms_widget id=”36052288″ image_id=”41922967″ width=”475″ height=”844″]

Keurig K-Mini® Single Serve Coffee Maker

An adorable and compact coffee maker is the ideal present for the caffeine addict in your life. It also makes tea and cocoa!

We’ve all been spending more time at home, which means we may need products that we never thought we would before – like a good supply of loungewear, comfy slippers and work-from-home gear. These are some of my favorites.
[show_ms_widget id=”36052293″ image_id=”41922973″ width=”475″ height=”267″]

Ugg Fluffette Slipper

Available in several colors (though how fabulous is this pink?) these slippers are a personal favorite. Your mother or mother-in-law will thank you!

[show_ms_widget id=”36052295″ image_id=”41922975″ width=”475″ height=”267″]

L.L. Bean Men’s Wicked Good Moccasins

My husband is on his second pair, and the last pair he wore to death! This is also a perfect gift for dads, uncles and brothers-in-law.

[show_ms_widget id=”36052296″ image_id=”41922976″ width=”475″ height=”475″]

Neetto Height Adjustable Laptop Table with Foldable Legs

I’ve never liked being chained to a desk. So working from home has allowed me to spread out to my bed, couch, even my floor. This convenient and compact desk lets your business-bestie work anywhere!

Little Luxuries
It’s been a tough year. And though we’ve all reaccessed what is necessary in our lives, there is nothing wrong with gifting someone with a little luxury.
[show_ms_widget id=”36052301″ image_id=”41922981″ width=”475″ height=”475″]

Nashelle Rose Gold Initial Necklace

Engraved jewelry is always a fantastic gift for moms, sisters, grandmothers and wives. And this dainty initial necklace is the perfect gift to get that personalized look at the last minute!

[show_ms_widget id=”36052299″ image_id=”41922979″ width=”475″ height=”317″]

L.L. Bean Faux Fur Throw

I am a real believer that you cannot have too many blankets. And on a cold, winter day I’ve been known to cuddle up beneath several throws with a cup of cocoa and a great Netflix show to binge. This faux fur throw takes it to another level. Warm and soft – everyone will want to snuggle up underneath it, including my sister who is just like me – always cold!

[show_ms_widget id=”36052302″ image_id=”41922982″ width=”475″ height=”317″]

La Femme Prada Perfumed Soap

Also available in L’Homme, the perfumed soap set from Prada is Instagram-worthy and much more luxurious than your typical bar of soap. And since it comes in such a beautiful box, all you have to do is attach a bow and you’re good to go!

[show_ms_widget id=”36052300″ image_id=”41922980″ width=”475″ height=”267″]

Waterford Marquis Markham Double Old Fashioned, Set of 4

I don’t drink whiskey, but even I would love these classic crystal Marquis glasses from Waterford. So while this would make a great gift for your brother or husband, it would also be perfect for grandma, your roomie, or that special someone you’re trying to impress this holiday.

[show_ms_widget id=”36052298″ image_id=”41922978″ width=”475″ height=”475″]

Diptyque Baies Scented Candle

I’ve heard about these for years and I’ve always though, what’s the big deal? Then a friend gifted me one and I am now a disciple of these incredible candles. This is what heaven smells like.

Classic Gifts
Classic gifts are those items that could be given to almost anyone on your wishlist. The beautiful mug to your boss who never is without a cup of coffee in her hand, stylish and warm merino wool socks for your best friend’s mom, a great coffee table read for your neighbor. I’ve selected some of those classic gifts, but made them a bit more personal for all your gifting needs.
[show_ms_widget id=”36052346″ image_id=”41923031″ width=”475″ height=”475″]

The Answer Is . . .: Reflections on My Life by Alex Trebek

We watch “Jeopardy!” every single night. Arielle even dances to the theme song! So you can imagine how upset we were to hear about Alex Trebek’s passing. This book is perfect for my husband – the ultimate fan. But even if don’t know a “Jeopardy”! addict, this is a great book for anyone interested in learning about one of the most well-liked people in TV. That’s a rare title to have these days!

[show_ms_widget id=”36052347″ image_id=”41923032″ width=”1080″ height=”1080″]

Bombas Socks Women’s Merino Tie Dye Gift Box

Tie-dye is so big right now and I just love how Bombas has donated over 30 million clothing items over the years to those in need. So in shopping for your family and friends, you’re also shopping for a good cause. And if you shop soon, you can use the code CHEER20 for 20% off! The teenager or Instagram-influencer in your life will love these trendy socks.

[show_ms_widget id=”36052345″ image_id=”41923030″ width=”475″ height=”475″]

Opalhouse™ Metal Feather Frame

This frame is perfect for anyone – from casual acquaintances to grandparents. Bonus points if you take the time to include a photo!

[show_ms_widget id=”36052348″ image_id=”41923033″ width=”475″ height=”475″]

Tiled Margot Monogram Mug

Though we haven’t been able to travel, and it looks like we won’t be for a while, I picture myself sipping tea out of this chic mug while sitting at a sidewalk cafe in Paris.

[show_ms_widget id=”36052351″ image_id=”41923036″ width=”475″ height=”475″]

Harry & David Chocolate Treasure Box with Wine

Something for everyone! Wine for the adults, chocolate for the kids (and the adults). This is the perfect gift for the whole family.

Just for Fun
[show_ms_widget id=”36052359″ image_id=”41923045″ width=”475″ height=”475″]

Fujifilm Instax Square SQ6 Instant Film Camera

Sure, with our cell phones we all have cameras in our pockets now. But when was the last time you took a polaroid? This would be great for the budding content creator in the family.

[show_ms_widget id=”36052360″ image_id=”41923046″ width=”350″ height=”622″]

100 Movies Bucket List Scratch-Off Poster

We all have that film buff friend. And what better gift to give them than a unique way for them to show off their movie education. I know my brother-in-law would be able to scratch off a bunch of these squares!

[show_ms_widget id=”36052369″ image_id=”41923058″ width=”475″ height=”267″]

Uncommon Goods Bubble Tea Kit

I introduced my mom to Bubble Tea during our 2018 trip to Walt Disney World. Since then whenever she sees Bubble tea, she has to have it. This would make a perfect gift for her!

There are gifts that you give just for the fun of it. It could be a gag gift – but truthfully I’ve never been a fan of those. If I’m going to give a gift, I want it to be something useful and thoughtful. So I found these items that are fun, but still special.
[show_ms_widget id=”36052352″ image_id=”41923037″ width=”350″ height=”622″]

Maison Miru Chill Pill Charm

This has to be my favorite item on this year’s gift guide. After the year we’ve had, I think we all need a chill pill – this one is just a whole lot more fancy – and I love fancy!

[show_ms_widget id=”36052358″ image_id=”41923043″ width=”400″ height=”711″]

Packard Bell Home Theater Projector And Screen

Drive in movies made a comeback this year after theaters shut down. Though I’m looking forward to settling back into those comfy reclining seats again, I’d love to add this projector and screen to our summer traditions.

For the Kids

I used to love getting gifts. Now with Arielle I love giving them even more! She isn’t really at the point where she understands gift giving, she just loves ripping things open. But even that gives me joy. I have my eye on a few of these items – some for now, some for the future. All of them are educational, yet fun, and will inspire any child this holiday season.

[show_ms_widget id=”36052371″ image_id=”41923060″ width=”350″ height=”622″]

Learn to Play Accoustic Guitar

You’re never too young (or old for that matter!) to start learning a musical instrument and this is the perfect beginner’s kit for any child or child-at-heart.

[show_ms_widget id=”36052373″ image_id=”41923062″ width=”475″ height=”475″]

3Doodler Create+ 3D Printing Pen

It is incredible what people are able to make today using 3D printers. And though I haven’t gotten into the technology myself, I think it’s so important to introduce kids early to these kinds of advancements. Gift this to your teenager, your niece or nephew, and watch them go to work! While they may start with building a new friend – like the dog pictured above, it may inspire them to get more involved in STEM programs. Someday this 3D printing pen may be the story behind the doctor using 3D printed organs!

[show_ms_widget id=”36052374″ image_id=”41923063″ width=”575″ height=”323″]

Once-Kids Paris Wanderlust

My daughter is obsessed with taking things apart and putting them back together. So my first thought for her Christmas gift was a classic lego set. Then I found these adorable Parisian-inspired blocks. And though I wouldn’t consider it your typical building blocks set, it will allow her to put together her own version of Paris – and then one day we can show her the real thing! You can also purchase the New York City set – which I may have to get her for her birthday!
[show_ms_widget id=”36052370″ image_id=”41923059″ width=”475″ height=”475″]

This Is Paris Kids Travel Book

Another idea to inspire future globe-trotters! I love travel gifts and this book is specifically geared towards young minds. And why not? I caught the travel bug when I was barely knee-high and I’m hoping that Arielle does the same!

[show_ms_widget id=”36052375″ image_id=”41923064″ width=”575″ height=”383″]

Dig a Dozen Dino Eggs Dig Kit

What child doesn’t love dinosaurs? This interactive kit allows them to dig up 12 dinosaur eggs and discover 12 unique dinosaur species. In excavating the eggs, they’ll feel like a real paleontologist! The kit includes a T-rex, Dilophosaurus, Ankylosaurus and much more! And once all of the dinos have been revealed, you can match them with their card describing the history and characteristics of the dinosaur. Seriously, how cool!

What it’s Like to Have a Miscarriage

@BostonBallet just delivered the ultimate lesson i @BostonBallet just delivered the ultimate lesson in contrast, and I am entirely here for it. 🥂✨

Alex and I kicked off date night trading our usual routine for the moody, electric energy of Hobgoblin, before stepping into the undeniable, old-world glamour of the Citizen’s Opera House.

If you think contemporary ballet is always intensely serious, the Fall Experience is about to beautifully prove you wrong. The program is an absolute masterclass in duality. We were hit with the unapologetic power of orchestral selections from Stravinsky’s The Firebird and the gripping, primal ritual of Vertical Road, but the absolute scene-stealer of the night was Alexander Ekman’s Cacti. It is cheeky, rhythm-driven, and gently pokes fun at the pretentious need to over-analyze everything. I think I will always remember that unique Pas de deux that ended with a stuffed cat falling from the ceiling.

Yes, you read that right.

Sometimes, you don’t need a deep, philosophical meaning—sometimes you just need brilliant percussion, incredible dancers, a cat and literal cacti on stage.

It was the perfect mix of grit, effortless glamour, and pure theatrical magic.

Don’t forget to grab your tickets to Boston Ballet’s Fall Experience before it closes September 20.

What is the most confusing or brilliant piece of modern art you’ve ever seen? Tell me I’m not the only one who just wants to enjoy the rhythm without a dissertation! 👇🥂

When I lived in New York, the places where the Twi When I lived in New York, the places where the Twin Towers once stood were just giant, gaping holes in the ground. There were makeshift memorials of flowers and photos, but I lived just down the street and avoided the area like the plague. It felt like a land of tragedy, heavy with the ghosts of lives lost far too soon.

So for years, on countless visits back to the city, I never went to the memorial. I just couldn’t.

That changed in August 2025. It was the girls’ first trip to NYC, and my first time seeing the 9/11 memorial pools. I’ll admit, I became far more emotional than I ever expected. Even all those years later, even though I was just a young teen when it happened, I felt my heart in my throat walking through the plaza.

And then we saw it. The Survivor Tree. In this vast space of mourning, it gave me so much hope. The same kind of brilliant, defiant hope my girls bring to me every single day.

It is so important that we never forget that day 25 years ago. But standing there, watching my daughters look up at the tree that refused to stop living, was a powerful reminder that it’s just as important that we keep on blooming. We have to keep living, beautifully and fiercely, for all those who can’t. 🕊️

Postcards from our final day in Newport, Rhode Isl Postcards from our final day in Newport, Rhode Island. 💌✨

We wrapped up our coastal escape with the ultimate high-low itinerary. We spent the morning wandering through the unbelievable grandeur of The Breakers. I fully encouraged Arielle and Aurora to pretend they owned the place, because why not?

Once we had our fill of Gilded Age opulence, we traded the marble halls for the classic, salty-air charm of Bannister’s Wharf. Alex and I tag-teamed the lunch rush at The Black Pearl (because finding incredible pescatarian-friendly coastal food and delicious cocktails is my absolute love language), before capping off the trip the only acceptable way: with a very necessary, very messy sugar rush at Sprinkles Ice Cream.

It was the perfect blend of architectural sparkle and sticky-fingered childhood joy. Au revoir, Newport. You were an absolute dream. 🥂

Okay, settle a debate for me: if you only had one hour left in Newport, are you spending it getting lost in the grandeur of The Breakers, or are you grabbing a table at The Black Pearl? Drop your vote below! 👇✨

If Holly Golightly took a family road trip to Rhod If Holly Golightly took a family road trip to Rhode Island, I like to think her first day would look a little something like this. 🥂✨

Newport is basically a masterclass in high-low travel, which is exactly my love language. We kicked off our first day channeling pure Gilded Age glamour at Rosecliff (highly recommend letting your girls pretend they own the place on the back lawn), before shifting gears for lunch at Pasta Beach and a wind-in-our-hair spin down the Scenic Drive.

We balanced out the opulent sparkle with the moodier, gorgeous architecture of Kingscote, did a little cobblestone strutting down Bannister’s Wharf, and wrapped the whole glorious marathon exactly where we belong: on the patio at O’Briens. They even let the kiddos fish with magnetic rods and matching “fish” in the fountain!

Because there is nothing chicer than pairing a fabulous outfit and a head full of historic architecture with a cold drink and casual pub food while Alex and I wrangle the girls.

Who says you can’t have the mansions and the casual pints, too? Not us.

Tell me your travel style below—are you team Gilded Age glamour, or team pub-patio-with-a-pint? (Or if you’re like me, you absolutely refuse to choose). 👇✨

And just like that, my baby has a backpack. When And just like that, my baby has a backpack.

When asked about the future, she skips the predictable and goes straight for the extraordinary: “I’m going to be a butterfly.” 🦋

Never lose that spark, sweet girl. Don’t let anyone convince you to dim your glitter, fit into a tiny box, or stay grounded when you were born to take flight. Go show preschool what you’re made of—sparkle, grit, and pure magic.

The wings already suit you. 🦋✨

They say packing for a family road trip is a marat They say packing for a family road trip is a marathon, but honestly? It’s just the perfect excuse to curate a killer high-low travel wardrobe. 🥂✨

From a private tour of the Empire State Building to chasing Arielle and Aurora through Newport mansions, this trip was all about blending Parisian nonchalance with a little NYC grit. Whether I was dusting off a vintage Armani straw hat for tea at The Plaza or living in a $30 wrinkle-proof Amazon dress 100 stories up at The Edge, the mission was simple: look fiercely put-together without sacrificing a drop of comfort. Because yes, you can absolutely museum-hop, wrangle kids, and still serve unapologetic glamour. 🖤🎀
